A little of This And That

Well, it has been some time since my last post! I have been working on a few things for my Etsy shop.

I made two clutches out of 100% wool felt.

I love felt! My mom gave it to me some months back and I just have not done anything with it. I really like how the bags turned out, the pictures though, I am going to have to jazz up, just does not do the bag justice. I am going to have to make one for myself. Although I did make one for myself but it was not made with felt. I like the look the felt clutch has...just something about it. Perfect for a night to go out with the girls and have sushi! I think we are due for that again soon!

This is the bag I made for myself. I am a sucker for anything turquoise and I fell in love with the exterior fabric on this bag! I wanted something a little funky and contrasting to go with it so I thought the polka dot fabric was a good fit and I just absolutely loved this big red button.

I liked the fabric and the button so much I made a jordy bag too!

I also wanted to have a weekend market bag to sell in the shop as well so this is what I worked on this evening. I have some other ideas but it turned out exactly how I wanted it to. I will do a little revamping though on the next few that I make until I get it exactly the way I want but I really really like how this turned out. Here are a few shots of it:

I also thought that since it has been some time that I have joined a craftster swap I am due for one. I have been reading about a possible swap that will start in August. It is a purse/bag swap. I am excited about it and hope I get to participate. If I do I will most certainly keep you posted!

Oh, this one is kinda funny...I was watching Miami Ink tonight, I love that show! I was thinking to myself that I have always wanted a tattoo and watching this show just makes me want to get one even more. I was thinking about what kind of tattoo I would get and then it hit me...I want a sewing machine tattoo!! You know, a really cool hip looking sewing machine. Then, I started to laugh to myself. But, who knows...if I find a design that I like enough I just may do it!

Happy crafting everyone!

Cheers!

Fun Things

Fun thing #1
I have had a pretty good weekend despite being on-call since Friday. This morning I woke up and made myself breakfast and had my ritualistic cup of coffee (well probably more than just one cup). It's nice because my coffee is already waiting for me when I wake up in the morning! I LOVE my coffee pot, it is a bright red, stainless steel, Kitchen Aid coffee pot and it is sooooo fantastic!

Okay, well I am sure I have talked too much about coffee and my coffee pot. Anyhoo...I ate breakfast with the birdies this morning. Jeff had to work early so this is what I watched out the window while I was eating my yummy omelet.

There were more little birds out there having breakfast but this big bird scared all the little ones off!

Fun thing #2

On Saturday I finally got the book I have been wanting for some time. I love this lady, Amy Karol. She has such wonderful ideas! I like to read her blog too...good stuff. I just love reading crafty blogs and such. There are such wonderful and talented people out there. It is also fun to read about people who have similar interests and to get a little glimpse at what it is they do from day to day.

The book is wonderful! I have been glued to it since I bought it yesterday at the bookstore. I can't wait to get sewing!

Fun thing #3

My owl fabric came on Friday! Well my goodness, it certainly has been a good weekend hasn't it! I can't wait to sew with it. I need to go to Jo-Ann's and pick up a few things first.

Now I'm off to finish cooking dinner. I can smell the pesto chicken cooking right now! Mmmmm.

Cheers!

Zipper Pouch Madness!!

I just can't stop making them! Here is another.

I really like this one and want to keep it for myself!
I really want to find some cute Japanese fabric. I love the prints on Japanese fabrics and just Japanese art and fashion in general.
Who knows what tomorrow brings, I wonder what I will make next?
Now I am off to make myself a chicken caesar salad and have a glass of wine!
Cheers!
P.S. Check out the most adorable bag I just bought on Etsy...I can't wait until it gets here!

Short and Sweet

Hello! These past few days I have been working on getting things going in my Etsy shop. I have so much more work to do. It is not any where near what I want it to be. It has been a lot of fun working on things this week. I have already sold one item. I figured it would be weeks before I would sell anything at all. There are so many talented and creative people on Etsy. Such wonderful things handcrafted! I am really inspired and have new ideas everyday. Here is a little something I have been working on...

It is an appliqued zipper bag. My darning foot is missing so I used my regular old foot, would have been easier to use the darning foot. I may go on a hunt for a new one this weekend. My little Bearnie has been getting a work out. Next I will be hitting the sticks, knitting needles that is! It will probably be at least another month until I get the shop up to where I would like it to be but it has been soooo much fun so far! It is almost as addicting as Craftster! But I think tomorrow I will work on making some soaps to put in the shop. Time to crack out the soap mold!

Happy 4th!

Well I had the most traditional 4th of July! Ha! Well not really. It has been raining here for like 40 days and 40 nights so most 4th of July fun has been cancelled. There has been so much flooding I think I may build an ark.

I did not have to work today so it all started with me sleeping a teeny bit late, if you call 9:30 am late. Then I made some coffee and a southwestern omelet for breakfast (basically an omelet with reduced fat cheese and salsa). After I got all jacked up on coffee I cleaned the kitchen windows, fan blades in both bedrooms, and cleaned out my closet! Boy do I have a BUNCH of stuff to donate to ARC! Then I decided that I wanted to bake something. I did not want to make something for myself because I am trying to loose a little weight so my pants fit better :-), so I thought...why not bake something for little Millie, my dog? I found a great dog biscuit recipe and tried it out! This is what I ended up with, peanut butter dog treats!

I made some to look like hearts...

Then, the rest I made to look like real peanut butter cookies!

Millie loved them!

I also began to work on my Etsy shop. I have alot of fine tuning to do to vamp it up but it is none the less a start! I have been talking for months about getting this going so I thought if I don't start now I never will. I will be working pretty diligently on it this coming weekend. For some reason I am having a really hard time with my banner. I have my banner all ready to go, it just won't download on the Etsy sight so will have to work on it. However, I will be selling all kinds of fun things and eventually maybe even dog treats

Jeff wants to be a veterinarian. I have told him all along when he has his own practice I will have my own little dog barkary. I love dog bakeries! There is something about them that is so wonderful, maybe I am just an animal lover. But, I figure selling dog treats in my Etsy shop will be a good way to get my foot in the door to his vet practice (he is still in school so that will be a while). Who wouldn't want to buy their dog a treat after going to the vet? It is like getting a lolly pop after going to the doctor!

Well, I hope everyone had a happy 4th!

Cheers!

A Little Sunday Fun

Who doesn't love homemade bath and beauty products? Well, it is really one of my favorite past times. I have kind of put it on the back burner recently because I have been sewing a lot so, I thought it was time to whip something up.

My hands are always so dry. It seems no matter how much lotion I put on my hands still feel dry. I guess it is partly my fault because I don't wear rubber gloves when cleaning and doing the dishes, shame on me! I really like salt and sugar scrubs which seem to moisturize my skin nicely.

There is a website that I love where I purchase my supplies, From Nature With Love. Their products of course are all natural but are of great quality. They have really great melt and pour soap bases which is one of my favorite things to make.

I messed around with a few scents and came up with a mixture of orange blossom, chamomile, and lemongrass. I wanted a summer scent and it smells really good! I also used grapeseed oil, which is a great base because it is not really oily and concentrated like some other oils. I also added jojoba and avocado oils.

I decided to make this batch a fine sea salt scrub. So after I added the oils and essential oils, I poured it in.

Then I stirred it up really well and...poof...a homemade body scrub!

I can't wait to take a bath!
