Living Room Reveal

So, finally here it is! I don't have the best before pictures because I started to prep the walls for the paint, moved all the furniture around, and then realized I needed to take before shots.

Front door

As you walk in the front door

Yep, I know the color of the wall changed on this pic, like I said, horrible at before shots. This is an important picture though. You will see why in a bit!

The green just made everything so dark!

Now for the after. The one major thing I am lacking a a rug to go under the coffee table.  I am thinking a black shag rug will be nice.

Yep, that's a blue towel under that piece of furniture. I put it there so it would not scratch the floor and forgot to put it away!

I had a Gorman print hanging here before but it did not go with the room anymore. I love Gorman and could not give it up so I put it in the bedroom instead. I picked this print up at Garden Ridge for half price!

The vase for the center of the dining room table I got at Kirklands. The chairs I recovered (take a better look over here) with fabric I picked up from Cutting Corners.

There is my Mod Podge Tray I recycled! I used some wedding moss in a jar for a little accent piece :-)

I hung black curtains that I found at the Family Dollar for next to nothing! I think that black shag rug will look really nice in here.

I recovered some pillows that I already had with the fabric that I picked up from Cutting Corners. I also found the red pillows at T.J Maxx and the green pillows at Anna's Linens. I think I may add a few more.

Can you see me waving in the mirror, ha! I am still not quite done with this area. I'm not crazy about that floor vase and want to find another one. I think I may also find a wall decal for in here too. Maybe a word or phrase.

I made a table skirt to hid that ugly little table! I also had a piece of glass cut at Ajax Glass for the top. I made a rather interesting tutorial for the table skirt and will post that soon for anyone interested.

I put the remote controls in a Southern Living basket that I had hidden away. That lamp I also found at Kirklands for next to nothing! I think I may do something to jazz it up a bit or maybe put it in the bedroom and find a more modern looking lamp to put here instead.

I found the most amazing soft little throw at T.J. Maxx too. The kitty slept on it all day on Sunday!

So, that is it for now.  There are still a few things to tweak but all in all I really like the improvement! When I tweak I will post about it. I wish my camera was able to take better pictures. I really does look better in person.

Cheers and thanks for stopping by!

Sneak Peek Into The Living Room Makeover

Since I had some unexpected extra time today, I continued to work on my dining room makeover project. So, here is a little sneak peek! This weekend I found an old tray in the garage. It was pretty dingy and unusable in the condition that I found it in. Come to think of it, the tray may be my sisters from when we lived together. Oops! Well, it looks better now anyway. If it is yours Sis I am very sorry I did not ask you first!

Here is the tray before.

I painted it white with some of the left over paint from my living room and hallway painting project (which is still a W.I.P).

I cut a piece of fabric that was left over from covering my dining room chairs and also making slip covers for the couch pillows. I laid the fabric inside the tray an drew a line where I would need to cut to make the shape of the tray.

Then I broke out the Mod Podge!  This stuff is awesome! A must have for every crafty person's collection. That statement is validated over here.

I put a layer of the Mod Podge directly on the tray.

Then laid the fabric down on top of it and pressed it smoothly with my hands.

I painted a later of Mod Podge on the fabric and then repeated this about 3 times.

Viola! The final result! This is going to go on the coffee table.

Here is another little sneak peek into my living room makeover project.

Sprouts Is Here!

It has been a beautiful weekend here in Funky Town. I really do love the cold weather because we don't get much of it, but this nice 73 degrees that I am feeling is great! I went out shopping for items to update my house. I am currently working on the living/dining room so stay tuned. The traffic today was insane and there were so many people out! I guess my little town is starting to get visitors in for the Super Bowl. We have been told to expect about 400,00 visitors to be in the area. Wow! But anyhoo, I stopped into Cutting Corners, a home decor fabric store, and picked up some great fabric that I am going to use to recover my dining room chairs and make a few throw pillows out of.  I also got some fabric to make a table skirt for the table that is next to the couch. They are having a rather nice sale. But even the regular prices are reasonable. This may be a new place I frequent. Since I was having such a fun time shopping today I stopped into Sprouts! It is their newest location that just opened up this week. Sprouts is fantastic. It reminds me of Trader Joe's and I think I read somewhere is owned by the same people. But, be warned, since it just opened the lines are about 20-30 minutes long! So, because I have been so excited about Sprouts opening up less than 5 minutes from my house, I stuck it out and waiting in line. I also made friends with the hilarious ladies standing in front of me. I think they were even more excited that I was about being there!

My dear friend is moving just up the street from me so I figured she would need some nourishment after the move. I picked her up some focaccia bread, pre-made fettuccine alfredo, and trail mix cookies!  I also pick up some chicken salad and focaccia for myself. After my long day of shopping I came home and made a sandwich, yum!

Over the next few weeks I will be decorating the living room and hallway so stay tuned.  I can't wait!

Cheers!
