Veil Part One

Here is the finished fascinator for my birdcage veil. Now all I need to do is track down some ivory Russian netting and hair combs and I will be all set!

Cheers and happy weekend!

I Think Sunday May Be My Favorite Day

Why you ask? Well, the house is clean because I did that on Saturday. The pantry is stocked because I have already been to the store. So, there is pretty much nothing to do except what I want to and that is exactly what I did today!

After my first few cups of coffee I decided to make myself an omelet. I stuffed it with sautéed green bell peppers and onions, feta, and turkey.

Ah, a perfect flip.  This does not always happen for me. Good times.

Yum, I love breakfast, especially on the weekends because I can take the time to enjoy it.

Then, I spent the majority of the day surfing wedding blogs for ideas. I came across some great ones!

* I love this "Just Married" banner over at Green Wedding Shoes. This site is incredible! I will be a frequent visitor.

* You can get your swank on over here.  Who needs wedding magazines when you have blogs like this!

* If only I were independently wealthy, I would have hired her to plan my wedding.

* Now, I cannot get enough of The Knot. Seems as though they have their own Vintage Wedding Site which I love because this is the direction that I am going with the wedding theme.  Great ideas here!

* More great ideas over here too!

* I love fashion and this blog is perfect.

At this rate I will be on the computer until I pass out!

While I was browsing wedding sites, I came across Jamie Lidell.  Honestly I have never heard of him but, I checked him out and I like him.  I have already downloaded 2 of his albums on iTunes. I am listening to him now. :-)

Even though I may pee my pants, er...wedding dress, I am getting excited about the wedding day. It is going to be a party!

Get ready folks, most of my crafting and blogging will be about wedding stuff from now until the wedding!

I worked a bit more on my birdcage veil prototype.  Here is a little sneak peek.

The feathers and button are not attached yet but it still give a pretty good idea of what it will look like.  I really like it.

I thought it would have been difficult to find a costume jewelry button for the flower but "lows and behold" as my Grandma would stay, when I dumped my jar of buttons out....

...it was the 3rd button I came to! I think it is perfect. This jar of buttons was my Grandmother's.  She gave it to me last summer I think. So, it also has a bit of sentimental value which I think it sweet.

Cheers!

Wedding Planning And Crafting!

So, I am getting married, but yep, you already know that. I have less than 3 months left to go! Fortunately, my very sweet mother has been my wedding planner and all the major stuff has been handled. But now comes time to get the decorations down, make the music list, figure out the ceremony, get the rings, the guys suits and much more! But, this is the fun part I think.

Jeff and I went to guy suit rental place #2 today to look at suits for the guys.  A few weeks ago I had an almost mini meltdown at guy suit rental place #1. See, we don't want tuxes, just a simple suit. Guy suit rental place #1 only rents tuxes and they were all not anything close to what I had in mind! Ugly, all of them! So, yes, it was a little stressful but honestly the first I have been stressed so far which is great! I told the uninterested and not so helpful girl that was waiting on us at guy suit rental place #1 that we had to go. She wanted us to at least book and come back later to finish selecting the suits but, we got the heck out of there and went to go have a few cocktails! Needless to say I was very discouraged and thought we were going to have to change everything about what the guys were going to wear. But, never fear, guy suit rental place #2 is to the rescue!  We walked in, the nice lady helped us--no pressure and no strings. We told her what we wanted and she pointed us right to it. The best part is for what it would have cost to rent a tux at guy suit rental place #1, they can buy a pretty nice suit to keep at at guys suit rental place #2! We were only in there for 10 minutes and that made Jeff very happy.

After our little outing, I went to Jo-Ann's for veil making supplies. Who knew how difficult it would be to cut flowers out of tulle? So, to a Jersey Shore marathon I went to town. I can't believe I just admitted that I watched a Jersey Shore marathon. Well, whatever. Anyhoo, I found a tutorial on this blog to give me some idea about how to make a birdcage veil. I am going to put a rhinestone button in the center of the flower, I just need to find one. This is my birdcage veil project, I sure can make a mess pretty easily.

I am making a flower fascinator for the veil made out of tulle, organza, and guinea feathers. I love these guinea feathers!

This is part of my secret project I have also been working on.

I cant say what it is but I can say it is the most fabulous roving that I have ever spun! It is called "Petunias" and it is 55% Merino, 25% Soy Silk, and 20% Tussah Silk. I picked it up at Miriam's Well last year in Santa Fe.When she travels she picks up roving to sell in her store. This lovely roving originated at Lambspun. This roving was soooooooooooo easy to spin, no pre-drafting required!  I spun in glass beads as well. A little technique I picked up over here. Oh and my very talented brother-in-law made those knitting needles.

In the midst of my wedding planning and crafting I had a crave that needed fixing, chocolate. So, I made brownies! Ah...heaven.

Cheers!

Spinning, Knitting, Felting, And Needle Felting

This is a little project that I have been working on. I spun the yarn myself, knitted it, felted it, and the did a little needle felt work on it.  I think I am going to needle felt more spirals on it. If I do I will post the final product.  I think it looks a little Alice In Wonderland-ie.

I love the little mushrooms. I sewed glass beads on to make the mushroom spots.

There is something very gratifying about making something from scratch!  Now, all I need is my own sheep then I can say I really made it from scratch!

Cheers and happy spinning, knitting, and felting!
