What I've Got On The Bobbin

Good morning! Just popping in to say hello since it has been a while. It is a beautiful day outside and I hope to get out and about in a bit to enjoy it! Right now I am enjoying my first cup of coffee of the day! Today is the last day that I am on call out of my seven day stretch!! It has been very busy, busier than the other times I have been on call. I think the philosophy this week at the hospital was, when in doubt call the social worker! So, I am down to 22 hours left and I am excited, as if you couldn't tell ;-). Last night, to pass the time, I worked on a bit of spinning during a 2 movie marathon. I was also looking at other people's yarn on craftster last night and I got a lot of inspiration! I have a few ideas in mind for my next skein.

On a sad note, the cutest little yarn shop in Fort Worth is closing and I just discovered it 3 months ago! They are however having a 25% off sale and their yarn is beautiful. I may have to swing by this week to say good-bye, sniff sniff. If I had the means, I would open my own yarn shop...maybe someday.

Cheers!

A little of This And That

Well, it has been some time since my last post! I have been working on a few things for my Etsy shop.

I made two clutches out of 100% wool felt.

I love felt! My mom gave it to me some months back and I just have not done anything with it. I really like how the bags turned out, the pictures though, I am going to have to jazz up, just does not do the bag justice. I am going to have to make one for myself. Although I did make one for myself but it was not made with felt. I like the look the felt clutch has...just something about it. Perfect for a night to go out with the girls and have sushi! I think we are due for that again soon!

This is the bag I made for myself. I am a sucker for anything turquoise and I fell in love with the exterior fabric on this bag! I wanted something a little funky and contrasting to go with it so I thought the polka dot fabric was a good fit and I just absolutely loved this big red button.

I liked the fabric and the button so much I made a jordy bag too!

I also wanted to have a weekend market bag to sell in the shop as well so this is what I worked on this evening. I have some other ideas but it turned out exactly how I wanted it to. I will do a little revamping though on the next few that I make until I get it exactly the way I want but I really really like how this turned out. Here are a few shots of it:

I also thought that since it has been some time that I have joined a craftster swap I am due for one. I have been reading about a possible swap that will start in August. It is a purse/bag swap. I am excited about it and hope I get to participate. If I do I will most certainly keep you posted!

Oh, this one is kinda funny...I was watching Miami Ink tonight, I love that show! I was thinking to myself that I have always wanted a tattoo and watching this show just makes me want to get one even more. I was thinking about what kind of tattoo I would get and then it hit me...I want a sewing machine tattoo!! You know, a really cool hip looking sewing machine. Then, I started to laugh to myself. But, who knows...if I find a design that I like enough I just may do it!

Happy crafting everyone!

Cheers!

Short and Sweet

Hello! These past few days I have been working on getting things going in my Etsy shop. I have so much more work to do. It is not any where near what I want it to be. It has been a lot of fun working on things this week. I have already sold one item. I figured it would be weeks before I would sell anything at all. There are so many talented and creative people on Etsy. Such wonderful things handcrafted! I am really inspired and have new ideas everyday. Here is a little something I have been working on...

It is an appliqued zipper bag. My darning foot is missing so I used my regular old foot, would have been easier to use the darning foot. I may go on a hunt for a new one this weekend. My little Bearnie has been getting a work out. Next I will be hitting the sticks, knitting needles that is! It will probably be at least another month until I get the shop up to where I would like it to be but it has been soooo much fun so far! It is almost as addicting as Craftster! But I think tomorrow I will work on making some soaps to put in the shop. Time to crack out the soap mold!

A Little Crafting And A Super Quick Post

I recently made some earrings for a craftster swap. I really liked them so I whipped up a few for myself and my sister. I love jewelry and especially making it myself. They take no time at all to make, so I thought I would make a few for myself to match a few of my outfits. I am obsessive compulsive like that ;-) . I think that I may sell them in my Etsy shop once I get that up and going. My friend and I met this Saturday to discuss getting things going for our Etsy shops, hopefully soon we will have everything worked out and our very own shops! I am very excited about this! Now it is time to get going on crafting for mothers day. There are sooooo many mothers to craft for!

Cheers!

Addiction

Well...I have to confess...I have an addiction....a craftster addiction. I love every single aspect of it. There are so many fantastically crafty people out there and they are all on craftster. It is a place where you can seriously forget all your troubles. Jeff is jealous of it because it consumes so much of my time so he has built up a bit of resentment toward craftster. I figure I am not really down with the ultimate fighter championship (which he watches all the time) so...I spend that time on crafster. Why should I have to sit next to him on the couch and engage in watching men beat each other? So...really...I think it is Jeff who is subconsciously isolating himself from me by watching UFC. Well anyhoo....I will save the social work analyzing for another day :-)
I participated in a swap recently. It was an altoid tin swap. The point of it is that you go out and buy an altoid tin (btw....dark chocolate covered altoids sound incredibly putrid but...they are remarkably yummy) and decorate it and then make some crafty stuff to put into it. I received from my partner last week. She did a wonderful job. I sent mine out today but forgot to take pictures...I'm an idiot :-)
Here is what she sent me! She made the altoid tin into a pin cushion! How adorable. For the swap I was able to pick out 5 different themes and my partner got to choose which theme she was going to craft. She chose my sewing, vintage, and cherry blossom themes.

She also made a cherry blossom thimble out of polymer clay! How adorable!

These little pins are adorable. She made them out of polymer clay too. They are little flowers. I cant wait to use them!

She also made a button pin. It has a very vintage look to it which I love. I can't get too much of vintage things.

Last but not least is this fantastic crocheted cherry blossom. Wow!

I love Craftster! If you have no idea what I am speaking of then check it out under my links. It will seriously take your stresses away (and drive your significant other crazy)!
