Sunday In Santa Fe

This morning I woke up to the birds chirping, the mountain sun shining on my face, and the french vanilla coffee my mom freshly brewed. The weather has been a bit rainy and thundery today. I love mountain storms. They are magnificent!

My dad is a devout Catholic so, we went to mass this morning at Cathedral Basilica of Saint Francis of Assisi (that is a mouthful!). The Cathedral is really beautiful, indescribable really.

After mass we headed over to La Fonda for lunch. They have painted the windows in the restaurant to look like stained glass. I am doing this when I get home to my windows!

The lunch was delicious! The aroma of food being cooked filled the hotel. I had tortilla soup, it was perfect and hit the spot.

My mom ordered a cob salad. The presentation of her salad was not like any salad I have seen before. Compliments to the chef!

I was going to take a picture of the huevos rancheros that Jeff ordered but he wouldn't let me. Ha! He thinks I am weird.

After lunch, we headed over to the Santa Fe Railyard to the community fair.

I picked up some lavender pure essential oil and lavender dry patch balm. I am a sucker for lavender to begin with so of course I needed the balm. I love it and it smells freaking fantastic. Lavender is hands down one of my favorite scents.

After the fair we walked around in the Railyard. It is really a neat place. I started to wilt a bit so, fortunately for me there is a Borders in the Railyard so, I got a latte for a pick me up. We then ventured over to Teca Tu, the cutest little novelty pet store I have ever been in. Since the girls are being boarded for the next 8 days, I got them a treat. I also got a dog bone shaped cookie cutter, something I have been looking for forever. I love making homemade dog bones and this cookie cutter is just perfect. I think one of the first things I do when I get back home is make dog bones!

We had a few fabulous mountain storms this afternoon. As I type, I can hear the thunder rumbling in the distance. The view from the casita is absolutely beautiful. How can you not be happy in Santa Fe even when it's storming?

The casita is beautifully landscaped. The lady owner has really put effort into planting lots of flowers and plants. These poppy's are loving the rain! They are beautiful and a very vibrant color of orange.

Tomorrow we are going to Canyon Road. I can't wait. Canyon Road is full of art galleries. Most of the galleries sell Native American art. Hopefully, we will pop in to El Farols for lunch. But, I am still anxiously awaiting to go to my favorite restaurant, La Boca! It is a tapas restaurant. My dad is having difficulty understanding the concept of tapas so, I am having a bit of trouble convincing him to go. :-)

Until tomorrow. Cheers!!
